PUBLIC LECTURE

The final session of the International Conference took the form of a lecture open to the public sponsored by the journal History of Photography. The date was 20 May, Hill's 200th birthday, the venue was the Church of St Andrew and St George (the very building from which the ministers and elders walked to form the Free Church of Scotland), and the speaker was Colin Ford CBE, former Deputy Keeper of the National Film Archive in London, Keeper of Film and Photography at the National Portrait Gallery, Founding Head of the Museum of Photography, Film and Television at Bradford, and Director of the National Museums and Galleries of Wales. His subject, entirely appropriate, was, 'For the Love of Photography'. Nearly 200 people attended.
